Life is crazy. One minute you are living your normal day-to-day life. You get up, shower, eat some breakfast, and you are off to work. The next minute you are celebrating a big event, or making a big move, going on vacation, or maybe just spending the day relaxing. At Clickstop, we want every employee, and each family member of our employees, to feel secure in the knowledge that life happens. We want our employees to work hard and play hard at Clickstop and at home. That is why one of our core values is Make Time for Fun & Family.
In our company history, we have made this core value a showcase of our company culture. And it is just as important today as it has ever been. At Clickstop, we currently have 6 expecting moms! SIX!!! We also have 2 gentlemen that have wives that are expecting. And there are two ladies out on maternity leave at the moment. Whew… LOTS OF BABIES! So we wanted to ask the expecting moms of Clickstop about Make Time for Fun & Family.
From left to right… Rachel, Tammy, Bri, Sarah, and Sara are all expecting! And they look beautiful!
Clickstoppers live by our Core Values. Think Big and Make it Happen, Communicate Openly with Confidence & Respect, Expect Greatness in Yourself & Inspire it in Others, Be Adventurous, Embrace & Drive Change, Promote a Winning Team Spirit, and Make Time for Fun & Family. We guard these values closely and see them every day in our work. We get excited to see employees embrace these values and help promote a collaborative experience within Clickstop.
One person who can be seen achieving and promoting these values is Sharyl Voss. Sharyl is one of our earliest manufacturing employees. She has worked in many areas of the department and comes to work with a smile, ready to tackle the day. It wasn’t a surprise that she was presented with two tickets to see The Price Is Right Live.
“Sharyl is awesome for starters and I wanted to do something to show her that I appreciate what she does every day. Not just a gift card but an experience that would mean something to her.” said VP of Manufacturing, Scott Keeling, who surprised Sharyl with the tickets. “I heard her talking in the Bistro one afternoon with Joan – she was talking about how she really wanted to go to the show.” So Scott decided to make that happen. Describing Sharyl as a person with an “awesome attitude that inspires those that she works with,” Scott presented her with the tickets and told her to have fun.
“We are lucky to have Sharyl, she is an awesome teammate and our company and department would not be the same without her.” said Scott.
So, let’s find out what she thought of the experience!
We can hardly believe we are coming up on graduation season.
But believe it or not, high school seniors all over Iowa are dreaming about their big day. Even if it still seems far off, there is no time like the present to plan for the future. Clickstop employees went through the same situation and know how much work goes into planning. But Clickstop is giving students a helping hand with the Dream Big! scholarship program!
Check out the press release below to get all of the details. Then, if you qualify, head over to the Dream Big! Scholarship page. We hope to see many students apply!
Clickstop Seeks Applicants for New Dream Big! Scholarship
Clickstop recently introduced a scholarship program for area high school juniors and seniors planning to attend a college or trade school.
The Dream Big! Scholarship honors the company’s commitment to promoting students’ educational growth and development. Four $500 scholarships will be awarded.
“We’re dedicated to supporting the local students in our backyard, those who work at Clickstop and the children of our employees,” said Sarah Watson, Talent Experience Architect at Clickstop. “These students will be the workforce in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor, and we believe in making an investment into our future talent.”
Eligible individuals include juniors or seniors in the Vinton-Shellsburg or Center Point-Urbana districts. Clickstop employees or their children also are invited to apply. A minimum grade-point average of 2.7 is required.
Applicants will be asked to submit a photo or short video showcasing their personality, as well as the type of career they’re interested in pursuing, goals after high school, community involvement, extracurricular activities, how they take time to enjoy life and a letter of recommendation.
In addition, they must explain how their principles align with Clickstop’s Core Values and/or Code. The series of behaviors have been embedded into the company’s culture to help guide business decisions, recruit top talent, drive employee development and create a great work environment.
“Clickstop is excited to launch this new scholarship program,” Watson said. “It allows us an opportunity to give back to youth in our area while fulfilling a piece of our mission – to create a sustainable business. Talent is a critical component to our company’s success, and we value continued learning and development opportunities at all stages in life.”

Every employee has a unique Clickstop story.
We have people from all over eastern Iowa. We have Kerry who drives all the way from Guttenberg, to Lonnie who lives right down the street. No matter the background, no matter how long of a drive it takes to get here, everyone shows up to Clickstop with a great attitude and ready to achieve great things. Sharyl Voss is a prime example of someone who helps set the tone around Clickstop.
One thing everyone can say about Sharyl… She has a big smile on her face. Everyday. She is happy to be at work. She is excited to see her co-workers, her friends. If you ask Sharyl if she likes her job, she will look at you seriously and tell you “NO! I LOVE my job!”. Her attitude and friendliness is contagious.
Clickstoppers competed in the annual Clickstop Winter Olympics last week.
And let me tell you, it was a really fun event. All Clickstop employees were invited to form teams of four and compete in four separate Olympic events. We had 8 teams compete.
Team USA – Nick, Carson, Nate, and James
Team Antarctica – Chris, Jake, Troy, and Seth
Team Germany – Lacy, Eric, Brennan, and Sean
Team Norway – Jenny, Jamie, Dale, and Grant
Team Italy – Whitney, Harley, Alicia, and Brenda
Team Ireland – Jon, Phil, Leilani, and Kara
Team Seychelles – Tom, Tammy, Monica, and Scott
Team North Korea – Cody, Cory, Zach, and Casey
The Olympic events were all things that any fitness level could do.
However, unfortunately for us, there really wasn’t anything to do outside because we were lacking the most important part of the Winter games… the snow. In the past, we have done snow digs, writing in the snow with water guns, sled pulls, and other fun activities. But since we have had a mild winter (no complaints here!) the Thrive committee had to get creative. So all of our events were held in the low traffic area of the warehouse, and we tried to make them as fun as possible, sans snow.
When it comes to trust, there is no greater impact for a customer, employee or company.
Trust is what allows us to easily and quickly do business with someone, work through obstacles and commit our efforts to a cause. We will not follow those who we do not trust. We will get more done quickly if trust is established at the beginning of a relationship. This is the concept that the book “The Speed of Trust” is based on and what a few Clickstoppers have been reading. Our goal is to understand the complexity of trusting someone and being trusted.
‘There is one thing that is common to every individual, relationship, team, family, organization, nation, economy, and civilization through the world – one thing which, if removed will destroy the most powerful government, the most successful business, the most thriving economy, the most influential leadership. the greatest friendship, the strongest character, the deepest love.
On the other hand, if developed and leveraged, that one thing has the potential to create unparalleled success and prosperity in every dimension of life. Yet, it is the least understood, most neglected, and most underestimated possibility of our time.
That one thing is trust.’ -Stephen M.R. Covey
The Speed of Trust
2017 is off to a great start for Clickstop’s Wellness Program.
With January finished, and all of us Clickstoppers dreaming about warmer weather, Thrive has been busy kicking off 2017 with new healthy initiatives and exciting new events to bring wellness to our Clickstop community. To kick off the year, Thrive started their Misplaced Mass challenge. Any Clickstop employee was eligible to sign up. With a small $5.00 entry fee, participants will compete against each other to see who can misplace the most mass;that is, lose the highest weight percentage. The competition started last week and will continue through the end of April. There was a starting weigh in with our rep, Ashton, from PCDM. Ashton will be back for our midpoint and final weigh ins. The winner will receive the cash!
We had about 21 people sign up. Week one of the competition is finished and there are a lot of motivated people eating healthier and working out multiple times a week. Nothing like a little bit of competition to kick us into gear.
At the end of January, we also celebrated our accomplishments through our Duck Wellness program. In 2015 and 2016, employees could do activities to earn ducks. At the end of the year, they could turn their ducks in for prizes. Employees earned everything from fruit infuser water bottles, HyVee gift cards, and even zipline packages. Though the program was successful, the wellness committee decided to move forward with something new. So to help celebrate, Clickstop had a Ducky Retirement Party, complete with a potluck, dress up day, and a few games.
Other events planned for 2017 include our annual Winter Olympics, a Clickstop 5K, and we are currently forming a team to ride in the Tour de Cure.
The building sure is coming along!
If you have been checking back regularly, you know that we are really… REALLY excited for the new building expansion. Changes are happening daily and we are pumped to start moving in. But for now, we just have to imagine what it is going to be, and wait a little longer to stretch our legs. But good news for everyone, we can at least show the progress to our followers and give small tours to our employees to keep them in the know! So here you are, another building expansion update to keep you going a little longer.
Let’s start off with the front of the building. If you look back a few posts, you can see we have truly made a lot of progress in a month. The construction crew has been working hard to close in the building as they get key areas ready for occupancy. As you look at this photo, the front left is the grand room, and the far right is the new training room.
As you have read in our previous posts, we have a lot of unique people working at Clickstop. Each employee hired was recognized for their ability to contribute not only to the company’s bottom line but also to the collaborative, outgoing and positive environment. Not every person who comes to Clickstop found us through a blog or job posting. We have quite a few people working at Clickstop who were referred by someone who was already paving their way through Clickstop. We take employee referrals very seriously because we know the teamwork that is involved with making this place great. And who would know better about hiring someone new than the people who are already here?
For this post in our Employee Referral Series, we are proud to feature Bill and Lacy.
