Life at Clickstop: Meet Morrie Lyles

On June 14, 2022, Clickstop opened the doors of its second distribution center. The occasion was marked by a grand opening ribbon cutting with the Simpsonville Chamber of Commerce, chamber members, city staff, and city council members. Previously, Urbana, Iowa was the location of Clickstop’s primary distribution center.

A key milestone for opening our second distribution center was the hiring of our General Manager, Morrie Lyles. For the past few months, Morrie has been busy hiring team members and getting the facility set it up to start fulfilling customer orders.

Now that the distribution center is open, we sat down with Morrie to learn more about the leader of our East Coast Distribution Center in Simpsonville, SC.

Why did you want to work at Clickstop?

It’s a growing company that I thought was a good fit for me.  There are opportunities for me to grow as the company grows. I realized the employee progression during the interview process – for example, Allen DeHeck started unloading trucks and progressed to his VP role through hard work and commitment to the company.

What is one thing that surprised you about working at Clickstop?

Every day is a dress-down day or casual day at work. I love being able to dress casually at work and be comfortable. Also, everybody was so welcoming! I applaud the onboarding techniques because I loved being exposed to different Clickstoppers in different roles.

What do you do at Clickstop and in what circumstances would I come to you for assistance?

My title is General Manager of Clickstop’s East Coast Distribution Center (ECDC) in Simpsonville. If anyone needs anything from ECDC, contact me and we will get it done.

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

This building was empty when I started. Being able to oversee the buildout inside the facility is exciting. I get to share pictures and videos of our work with the Clickstop family. It’s exciting to sit back and watch the place develop into a productive distribution center. It’s also exciting to teach new employees the business and watch them grow. It gives me a sense of achievement when I can make a difference in their lives.

What words would your friends and family use to describe you?

An ambitious, outgoing, strong-minded, funny, athletic, well-mannered, all-around person that wants to do the right thing.

Best place you’ve traveled to?

Grand Cayman Islands, it’s beautiful.

What’s your favorite food?

Smoked Brisket and Pepperoni Pizza

Do you have hidden talents or hobbies?

I like to stay somewhat in shape. I’m not a gym rat but I get my workouts in when time permits. I also am an avid golfer. I’m terrible at playing the game but love the sport.

Are you a sports fan? Who are your favorite teams?

Absolutely, in fact, I listen to sports radio more than anything. I am a Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Braves fan.

Anything else we should know about you?

I have three daughters and two three-year-old grandsons. My grandsons are my world. I love spending time with my boys!

We are excited about the progress Morrie has helped us make in opening our second distribution center and cannot wait to see the continued impact he has on Clickstop in the future!
