Q1 2018 Be Adventurous, Embrace and Drive Change Winner: Kara Roehr

Kara Roehr is our Q1 winner of the Be Adventurous, Embrace and Drive Change Core Value award. Watch her recognition video below and hear about what this core value means to her.

Tell me about opportunity at Clickstop.

Kara: The opportunities at Clickstop are only limited to the person! If you are looking for opportunities, and are working hard, they will come.

If someone asked me 5 years ago when I was just starting at Clickstop if I saw myself being on the Technology team, I would have quickly said no, but every yes I said along the way for different opportunities and challenges led me to where I am now. It’s hasn’t been easy and that’s what I like about it!

I love a good movie quote, and its even better when it’s a sports movie quote. One of my favorite movies ‘A League of Their Own’ has a great quote, that reminds me a lot of the success I’ve had at Clickstop, “Of Course it’s hard. It’s supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Hard is what makes it great.”

What is your favorite part about working at Clickstop?

Kara: This is a big question! There are so many things I like about working at Clickstop. The friends I’ve made, our facility is pretty amazing, the work everyone is doing day in and day out, and of course the opportunities I’ve received. Our mission statement: “Providing Opportunity for those who seek it,” I think that’s probably my most favorite part of Clickstop. The sky really is the limit here. I knew when I started at Clickstop that I wanted to contribute to the company to my highest abilities, no matter what I was doing. Working to become an expert in the area of work I was doing set me up for success for the next opportunity that came my way, and each move I have made within the company all the stuff I have learned over the years from all the roles has stuck with me.

How do you relate to the core value: Be Adventurous, Embrace and Drive Change?

Kara: Two of my top 5 strengths from StrengthsFinder are Adaptability and Arranger. These two strengths have helped me with all the changes I have experienced so far at Clickstop. Adaptability, because I work mostly in the moment and can react quickly when something changes. Arranger, with my natural ability to focus resources in the right directions to maximize effectiveness. I like to think I have a pretty go with the flow type personality. I enjoy changes and I don’t like the feeling of doing the same routine thing over and over again. I like to take a task or process and find a way to make it more efficient, not only for myself but for those around me! If there is a way to make a long tedious task take half the time, we’ve just opened up that much more time to focus on something that is going to take us to the next level. That’s one thing I love about change, it opens up the possibility for so much more!

What advice do you give to others who want to embrace this core value?

Kara: Don’t be afraid to say yes to something that seems out of reach for you. Seek out the next thing that could be, be a champion of it, and see it through. The more adaptable you are to change with your attitude the farther it will go throughout the company. Be a positive force for change!

What are your major goals at Clickstop? How are you going to make it happen?

Kara: Right now I am really focusing on centralizing and unifying our information throughout Clickstop. Taking our NetSuite ERP system to the next Level, to fully utilize all the capabilities it has to offer and to better mold it to serve our business units within our strategy. It’s going to be a long process and ever evolving but it started with evaluating what we have now, what the pain points are, and what we want to be able to do in the future.

My biggest push is getting NetSuite set up properly for growth, and for our Shared Services Model. I plan on making this happen by gaining buy in from the company, championing the advantages of the unified program, and working with the right people to move it forward quickly and properly, as well as documenting everything so we can continue to expand on it.

Kara’s boss, Tom, had this to say about Kara’s recent award, “Kara loves challenges and is opportunistic when she sees big, hard jobs. She will find a way to make them them fun and a learning experience every time. Her courageousness and willingness to want to make Clickstop a better place is present in her daily work as well as when she finds a special project to work on.”
