Q2 Enthusiastic Trait Winner: John Spanczak

John Spanczak - 2019 Q2 Enthusiastic Award

An intense enjoyment, interest, or approval of something is what we refer to as enthusiasm.

My daughter is enthusiastic about school.  She gets up on time each school day, works hard in the classroom and laughs and plays on the playground.  She’s eager to learn, see her friends, have recess and go on field trips.   And at the conclusion of the day, she reminds her parents of the homework she must complete.

Her enthusiasm positively affects her family, teachers and classmates.

Some may say that this type enthusiasm is the product of naiveté and isn’t likely to be found amongst adults in the workplace.  I beg to differ.

The Root of Enthusiasm

Consider the values of Clickstop and what life looks like when they’re upheld at all levels.  It’s not hard to imagine.  In fact, it’s the regular experience of life at Clickstop.  Couple this with the increasing opportunities for people to grow, learn and develop into better versions of themselves, and in the prospect of what ongoing success for Clickstop means for the employees, our families and communities.

It’s not for lack of experience that enthusiasm resides; rather, it’s the experience itself that produces the enthusiasm.

Pursuing Excellence

At Clickstop, the actions in line with the enthusiastic employee result in optimism, belief and trust in co-workers and outward expressions of encouragement for our teammates.  There is also an increasing pursuit of excellence revealed in the lofty expectations set for personal and professional development.

John Spanczak is one who challenges himself with lofty expectations and works hard to achieve them.  Along the way, he takes time to celebrate and show appreciation for those who work alongside him each day to achieve great results for the business.

This enthusiasm is shared beyond the walls of Clickstop as well.  As he works with clients of Leverage Talent Enrichment, he helps them to recognize their own potential and celebrates with them as goals and milestones are achieved.

For his work, we’re pleased to recognize John as our Q2 Enthusiastic Trait Winner.  Well done, John!

The Interview

What is your role at Clickstop?

Director of Employee Engagement Services. I take our workplace cultural expertise and sell engagement solutions to external companies.

How long have you worked at Clickstop?

1.5 years! Wow! Time flies!

How did you feel upon being recognized for this award?

Surprised, honored, and overall FANTASTIC!!

What do you believe has led up to this recognition?

I have always been a bit of a cheerleader for others (rah rah rah). I care deeply about Clickstop and our employees. I want nothing more than for us to succeed. If I can help inspire others to be the best version of themselves with a little optimism, energy, and encouragement, then I will do my best to be your cheerleader!

Have you had struggles within this Core Trait?  If so, what have they been and how did you overcome them?

Well we are in the midst of proving Leverage. We had a slower start than expected, which was a tad discouraging, but our optimism for our future has kept us going and now we are gaining a ton of traction! I think what helped me overcome my struggle was having a team of people around me that believed in me.

Why is this Core Trait important to the success of Clickstop?

I love every behavior listed under this core trait. Most people think about enthusiasm as positivity, but it is much more than that. It is about belief. Every one of those bulleted behaviors is about believing in something: the company, our teammates, our future. It is essential for the success of Clickstop that when we are met with challenges, or a new BIG idea is presented, that we believe we can make it happen.

What brought you to Clickstop?

Some perceived unfortunate circumstances, a touch of luck, and perhaps universal forces pushing me around. Any which way you look at it, I am soooo happy to be here! Best place I could be!

What keeps you at Clickstop?

Simple: I love what I do and I feel valued for the impact I can make. I do not think that I have ever felt more valued as a contributor in my career. This award is just one of the many examples of how we demonstrate that our employees are our greatest asset. It would be hard to ever go back to a place that does not believe in caring for their employees like we do.

Why should others want to work at Clickstop?

Clickstop is unlike any place you have ever worked. We are setting the standard for what it means to be an employee living their best life.

What is one word your wife would use to describe you and why?

Well, I was not really sure what she would say. When in doubt, I call my wife. Wife: “Passionate. You know what you want and you make sure it happens no matter what.”

What is the coolest/craziest place you ever been to?

Oh boy, that is tough. I have experienced many great adventures! I have jumped off waterfalls in Ecuador, worked with sea turtles in Costa Rica, hiked 75 miles across Scotland, paddled the boundary waters, and explored caves in Slovenia to name a few. Now I am on a new adventure: figuring out this dad thing. So that is cool too, I guess!

What is your favorite activity that you like to do with your family?

I am a big fan of camping! It is so inTENTS!
