Q2 Responsible Award: Zach Blair

After the retirement of Clickstop’s long-time leader in facilities maintenance, a door opened and Zach Blair ran through.

This year, Zach has become “a machine fixing pro,” as his nominator dubbed him. He saw the opportunity to step into manufacturing maintenance as a support to the new leader in facilities maintenance, Scott Robinson, and has been making an impact. His ability to be reliable, honest, and trustworthy, while using his strengths to help others make an impact, is why he is our Q2 Responsible Award Winner.

If the equipment in our manufacturing space isn’t in excellent shape, products can’t be made and we cannot meet customers’ needs. Even issues as small as sewing thread can cause machine breakdowns. And that is where Zach steps in.

“Zach has been running around all day, every day, keeping all our equipment in tip-top shape to keep everyone in production. We heavily rely on Zach to keep our equipment running so we can continue to get the customers what they want when they need it.” – Nominator

No matter how many times someone calls him to help with an issue, he brings a positive patient and approachable attitude that his coworkers appreciate. And even when parts aren’t readily available to fix a machine, he collaborates with those around him to find a creative solution until one can be ordered.

“I once had a piece of metal break on one of the sewing machines and I had to have this tarp done that day. Zach worked closely with me as he strategically took pieces of the machine off to figure out how to fix it. We had to be creative in replacing the broken metal hook because we didn’t have this random piece of hardware. He collaborated with Scott, and they cut the handle off a bucket to create a temporary solution so I could get the job done. It was brilliant!”

In addition to reacting to the issue on the manufacturing floor, Zach proactively spends time researching machines and other items that may need to be replaced. The impact of this knowledge multiplies because Zach uses it to execute his work, to cross-train others on maintenance, and it, therefore, allows us to get customers what they want when they need it.

Congratulations to Zach on this well-deserved recognition!
