Lisa Shows Decisiveness Through Prioritizing Her Work!

Lisa Mathews_2021 Q1 Award

Being decisive comes down to being great at separating what must be done well now from what can be improved later. It means making tough decisions and not second-guessing them, moving quickly, being objective, and solving challenges.

The Recognition & Results

Lisa was the owner of several key Shopify projects in Q1 and owned their impact by looking at the work in front of her, making important decisions on what needed done and holding herself and teammates accountable to do what was best for long term growth.

Key areas where Lisa has made and continues to make an impact are as follows:

  • Organizing our customer duplicate data and making decisions to set us up for future success. To say there were a LOT of them is an understatement. Lisa made a plan and went to work.
  • She prioritized her work so the timing would be most impactful for Clickstop.
  • Said no when needed and set clear expectations of her outcomes.
  • Lisa uses her knowledge to make decisive and impactful decisions.  She has gained this knowledge from making learning a priority during her time at Clickstop, as well as the experience of various roles throughout the company.
  • You can count on Lisa to come with solutions and challenge herself to choose what is right for Clickstop.

Way to go Lisa!

The interview

What is your role at Clickstop?
Business Analyst

How long have you worked here?
12 Years

What makes this recognition meaningful to you?
Being decisive has not always been a strength of mine but is an area that I have worked to improve, so receiving this award is a great reinforcement that I have made progress.

What is your most meaningful accomplishment from this past quarter?
Supporting the Shopify project through my knowledge about our customer records and how customers will interact with their accounts on the website.

What is one area you are seeking growth? What difference will it make?
It has been an ongoing goal of mine for a while to invest more time and effort in feedback.  Both giving and receiving feedback well are skills that should be developed and practiced, and are essential to learning and continuous improvement.

How have others supported your growth while at Clickstop?
I’ve been able to shift roles or responsibilities multiple times over the years to best fit my strengths.  As I’ve grown in knowledge, experience, and skills I have always appreciated that Clickstop has allowed me to evolve my role and what I do to fit how I’ve evolved as a person.

Whether you’re working from home or onsite, what has been your biggest challenge navigating a new work environment? How have you sought to overcome that challenge?
I think the biggest challenge has been to be much more deliberate with communication and building relationships with coworkers.  We’ve tried a few different things as a team and personally I’ve tried to be deliberate about reaching out to people.

Do you dance when no one is looking?
Of course

You’re in the circus, would you rather be the person with their head inside the lion’s mouth or get shot out of the cannon?
Definitely shot out of a cannon.

What is one thing you loved as a child that today’s kids would know nothing about (ex. Walkman, Spirograph, Cabbage Patch Kids, etc.)?
Lite Brite. I think they still sell them actually and they’re labelled as ‘retro’.

Would you rather be able to breathe underwater or have the agility of a cat?
Breathe under water.
