The Architecture of Empowerment
How Sara Alden Sets the Stage for Success
What does it actually mean to be “responsible” for a project?
For many, it means carrying the entire weight of the workload on their own shoulders. But for Sara Alden, our latest Responsible core trait award winner, responsibility isn’t about doing everyone’s job. It’s about building a foundation so solid that everyone else can do their best work.
As one of our merchandising experts leading projects for US Cargo Control and now Fasteners Plus, Sara has mastered a rare skill: over-preparing behind the scenes so her team can shine in the spotlight.
Thinking Months Ahead (So You Don’t Have To)
We’ve all walked into meetings where the first 20 minutes are spent wondering, “Wait, what are we even doing here?” With Sara, that doesn’t happen.
Sara’s direct manager, Krystal Talbert (VP of Shared Marketing), highlighted that Sara is often planning and prioritizing months in advance. When the team shows up to tackle a new product category in January, Sara has already been working on it since November. She’s already tapped the product experts, gathered the market research, and set the timeline.
By the time the “official” work begins, the path is already cleared. As Krystal put it, “She makes it easy for the rest of us to do a really good job.”
The “I Trust You” Factor
The most impactful part of Sara’s approach isn’t just the organization—it’s the empowerment. Once the foundation is set and the expectations are clear, Sara steps back.
Whether you are a content writer, a photographer, or any other member of the project team, Sara’s message is the same: “I’ve given you what you need. I trust you. You’re the expert—go do it.” This is the Responsible trait in its highest form. It’s not about micromanaging; it’s about knowing what people are good at and creating the space for them to work within their strengths. One of her nominators, Reece, noted that the result of Sara’s leadership is a team that feels truly ready and authorized to make an impact.
“She is making sure we all know our expectations and our timeline, and then she’s sending us out. She is trusting us to be experts.” – Krystal Talbert, VP of Shared Marketing
Why Clickstop is Different
In many organizations, project managers are rewarded for being the bottleneck—the person everything must go through. At Clickstop, we reward the architects—the people like Sara who simplify the process and get the obstacles out of the way.
Sara took on projects that were newer to her, but instead of fixating on control, she fixated on results through others. Her responsibility extended to the success of every person involved in the project. That is how we grow as a company: by ensuring that when one person leads, everyone around them gets better.
Do You Lead by Empowering?
Do you find joy in the “in-between” work because you know it leads to a collective win? If you are a project manager, a strategist, or an operational thinker who loves setting others up for success, Clickstop could be where your career takes off.
We provide a culture where your foresight is valued, your leadership is supported, and your ability to empower others is recognized as a core driver of our business.
