Cooper Smith is our Q4 'Opportunistic' Award Winner
“A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.” – Francis Bacon
I thought about this quote for a bit. What is the difference between making and finding opportunities? In one sense, it seems that making opportunities implies more control over circumstances and events than what one actually possesses. But maybe, it’s the finding that is the resulting of the making?
Consider the verbs within the “Opportunistic” behavior statements: collaborate, proactively share information, minimize complexity, see (make) challenges as opportunity, prepare, cultivate and recognize. Opportunity is being created through these actions. I believe Mr. Bacon has a point.
Cultivating and Recognizing Opportunity
Now consider the behaviors of our Q3 “Opportunistic” award winner, Cooper Smith. Each nomination commented on his humility and collaborative attitude. One nomination read, “His attitude is one that is contagious. You cannot be in a bad mood around this guy. He is humble, patient, hardworking, dependable, kind, and precise.”
As he observed the projects in the IT stack, he created a learning opportunity by requesting to shadow the team. During that time, he asked thoughtful questions and observed as the team walked him through the many workflows, building and cultivating new relationships along the way.

The Interview
What is your role at Clickstop?
I am the Picker for manufacturing.
How long have you worked at Clickstop?
A little over 2 years
How did you feel upon being recognized for this award?
I am very grateful!
What do you believe has led up to this recognition?
I have always left the door open to seek and obtain new opportunities. I have job shadowed in IT, and I am constantly looking for new ways to find out more about the company.
Have you had struggles within this Core Trait? If so, what have they been and how did you overcome them?
Oh yes. It is hard for me to move out of my comfort zone. I have had conversations over the past few months with my manager in order to combat this.
Why is this Core Trait important to the success of Clickstop?
I think it is important because opportunities allow you to grow as a person and learn new things, in turn allowing you to contribute more to the company.
What brought you to Clickstop?
While I was still in high school I wanted a more stable and fulfilling job. Some high school friends told me about a 2nd shift part time Manufacturing job, so I filled out an application, and here I am!
What keeps you at Clickstop?
I love working for a company that has a great culture, and really encourages your growth as a person.
Why should others want to work at Clickstop?
The people and culture is amazing.
If you had to pick one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pizza for sure
What is your favorite activity that you like to do with your family?
I love to go to the dog park with Alana and my dog Apollo.
