Adam Shouse Pursuing the Opportunity to Drive Us Forward

A Trio of Winners
This past quarter, we recognized three team members for their exceptional demonstration of the ‘Opportunistic’ core trait.
Our first recipient is a die-hard Cyclone and Chiefs fan and has dreams of upgrading his push mower to a riding lawn mower. The $100 cash reward that comes along with this recognition might serve as a step toward that dream becoming a reality.
Adam Shouse, congratulations on being recognized as 1/3 of our Q2 ‘Opportunistic’ award winners!

The Interview
What is your role at Clickstop?
Business Development Consultant
How long have you worked at Clickstop?
Nearly 6 Years!
What brought you to Clickstop?
Opportunity to drive my own development, and to work in a sales role. I knew after my first interview with Tim and the sales team I could see myself working at Clickstop for the rest of my career.
What effect has this recognition had upon you?
Humbled and fortunate. Nobody can win a core value award without a lot of support from others around the company who help you reach your goals. You can’t win one on your own, so I think a lot about all the people who help me succeed on a daily basis.
What do you believe has led up to this recognition?
I think not being afraid to take on a new challenge and see it as an opportunity. I enjoy going after new customers and building a long term relationship and the pandemic has proven that while it may be different in how that looks in terms of Business Development with little to no face-to-face interaction, it is possible to still build trust with customers and show them how we do things differently at US Cargo Control.
Who has supported you in achieving these results?
Oh, wow there is a laundry list of people I could mention here. It might be like a Grammy speech. 😊 I would say the entire team in manufacturing and shipping team for consistently coming through for our customers and fulfilling our brand promise. It goes a long way when building trust with new customers and showing them how US Cargo Control is flexible in our approach to helping their businesses reach their goals. Ben R. for always checking in on me about once a day to talk over opportunities I am working on and how he can help. I know when that cell phone rings each morning, it’s Ben 😊. The entire sales/service team for the collaboration and working through complex opportunities daily – you are all Rockstars! Cari has been my leader just this year, and she has been awesome giving me feedback and challenging me to work on areas of opportunity. I’m sure I left off a ton of people, but I could type an entire book on recognition to my peers in the company, which is a testament to how awesome our teams are.
What is a recent challenge/obstacle you’ve overcome through the behaviors within this Core Trait/expectation of safety?
I recently had an opportunity to visit a large transportation company in June that I had called on for the last few years about earning their business. We had an opportunity to bid back in the early 2010’s but it had been about a decade since we had heard from them. Through consistent follow up and persistence I got the opportunity to tour the facility and bid their entire line of cargo control. It was a great visit and knowing there was opportunity there helped me stay focused on my goal of getting a visit. We look forward to hearing about the outcome of the bid this summer.
What should people know about working at Clickstop?
It is a great place to learn and develop new skills, but you have to take ownership to make it happen. There are so many opportunities out there for you to go after if you are persistent and communicate your aspirations with your leader. It isn’t enough to just communicate though, own your development and go after it! This mindset has allowed me to achieve a lot of personal and professional goals and I strive to maintain that mindset.
If you had to pick one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Buffalo Wings…bone-in. None of that boneless wing nonsense in this house.
If you could never have to do one chore for the rest of life, what would it be? (i.e. unloading the dishwasher, dusting, etc.)
Push mowing my yard…time for a rider.
What are your superstitions?
During Cyclone Football and Chiefs season I normally sit in the same seat and wear the same jersey once a winning streak is established. Needless to say, my routine changes a lot more with ISU football than the KC Chiefs this past season 😊
Who would play you in a movie of your life?
Tim Sanders always said Dwight Schrute is me at the office, so I’ll go with Rainn Wilson.
