How Tre Scott is Developing his Leadership in Manufacturing

It can look a lot like Tre Scott.
Tre joined Clickstop in April 2025. By most standards, his trajectory has been fast—he is already a Team Lead. But if you ask Tre, his growth isn’t just about a title change; it’s about a narrowing of his focus from just absorbing information to becoming a person of consistency and confidence.
The Seeking Mindset
When the opportunity came to join the Leadership in Manufacturing (LIM) Tier 1 program at Kirkwood Community College, Tre didn’t hesitate. He was new to formal leadership and felt the weight of his responsibility to his team.
“I had been given the opportunity to become a Team Lead,” Tre says. “This was a new experience for me, so I wanted access to as much knowledge as possible to help boost my growth!”
Growth can start when you have the courage to admit what you don’t know.
Tre didn’t wait for the answers to come to him or pretend like he knew it all. He sought out the classroom that would provide the knowledge he didn’t have yet.
Becoming “New and Different”
For Tre, the six-month commitment at Kirkwood was about immediate application. He found a direct bridge between the classroom and the Manufacturing floor through lean tools like the T.I.M.W.O.O.D.S. acronym (a framework used to identify waste in processes).
“I went into this program with very little knowledge,” Tre explains. “When I was introduced to T.I.M.W.O.O.D.S., it was a great example for me to directly apply in my everyday work. I use it as a way of describing processes to the team to support their understanding and reasoning.”
Beyond the technical tools, Tre adopted a new leadership habit: Building an understanding of how the team is doing each day. “It provides me with insight as to how our day might go and where our headspace is for work,” Tre explains. “I believe this is one skill that I’ve adopted that has significantly impacted our team in a great way.”
Sustainability Through Trust
At Clickstop, we believe the growth of our people and the growth of our business are interconnected. When a leader like Tre gets better, the entire floor becomes more sustainable and enjoyable.
How? Through trust.
“Me becoming a stronger leader gives the team a sense of trust that I’ll have the answers to any problem they might come across,” says Tre. “Along with acknowledging that if I don’t have the answers, I’ll be able to find a way to get them, and to provide the team with encouragement to push them through tasks.”
This shift is visible to those who work alongside him every night. Teammates like Savannah Peterson and James Judy have had a front-row seat to Tre’s evolution—from a new hire to a leader who provides the encouragement needed to push through difficult tasks.
Tre’s Keys to Unlocking Opportunity
If you are someone seeking growth—or someone considering joining our team—Tre’s experience has three key :
- Be Courageous: Speak up while seeking the best for the collective whole.
- Be Eager: Show a genuine willingness to learn and evolve.
- Be Hopeful: Maintain an optimistic view of your future and the impact you can have.
What’s Next?
Tre isn’t finished seeking. While he is currently absorbing knowledge from the company’s Six Sigma Process Improvement course, he already has his sights on Tier 2 of the Leadership in Manufacturing course.
Tre’s story is another in a long line that illustrates that you don’t have to wait years to make an impact. If you have a growth-mindset, remain curious, and are invested in doing the best for the team around you, good things will happen. Opportunities will come your way.
